The carbonization temperature , graphitization temperature and the degree of oxidation in air of PAN base graphite felt have a big influence to the performance of graphite felt electrode.
With the temperature of carbonization and graphitization increasing,the quantity of ¨CCOOH and ¨COH on the surface are decreasing,under 550 centigrade treating after 5h, the specific surface area increase, the quantity of the active node increase.
Under carbonization temperature 1400 centigrade and graphitization temperature 1800 centigrade,using the graphite felt to install the redox flow battery,the result shows that The voltage efficiency and energy efficiency decrease with the increase of the current density, the best charge discharge current density of the battery is 60mA/cm2.
With the increase of carbonization temperature of graphite felt, the coulombic efficiency of battery decreases slowly, and the energy efficiency and voltage efficiency of the battery are gradually higher charge discharge resistance decreased. With the graphitization temperature of graphite felt, battery energy efficiency, voltage efficiency were improved, reduce the internal resistance of the battery charge and discharge, graphitization effect on resistance is significantly greater than the influence of carbonation resistance.
Compared with the carbon chain, graphite grain as the electrochemical performance of the electrodes was significantly increased, and carbon rent after graphitization, fiber containing carbon content increased, carbon by non directional structure into graphite of changes in the structure, degree of graphitization increased.
In the air after 5h of oxidation of graphite rent good electrode electrochemical activity and reversibility, and air oxidation of graphite rent with the increase of specific surface area, fiber surface activity increases the number of knots and the surface of the fiber containing oxygen functional groups increase.
The performance of the liquid flow battery is directly determined by the electrode material, which requires its electrochemical activity and strong oxidation resistance,good reproducibility, resistant to acid corrosion, low resistivity.
