The electrode is one of the most important parts of the battery, the electrode and its related characteristics, including cost and processing technology, has become a key aspect of the research and development of vanadium battery system. The appropriate electrode materials can improve the electrochemical activity of vanadium redox and ultimately improve the energy efficiency of vanadium battery. The electrode material of vanadium battery is divided into graphite felt and carbon felt.
The graphite felt has high firing temperature and high degree of graphitization . The price of graphite felt is relatively high. The carbon felt is processed through the surface of the electrode to improve its performance.
The significant difference between graphite felt and carbon felt are cost and price. The same raw materials, The temperature increase several hundred degree when the graphite felt is processed , the electricity will consume more ,on the other hand, the final product weight is light relatively, obviously,the price will be higher.
The graphite felt and carbon felt mainly divided into PAN based and Rayon based according to different raw materials . the PAN based graphite felt and carbon felt have the better effect through studying various carbon materials and considering from decreasing the electrode cost, and reducing the battery quality.
